Worship and Music

All Sunday morning services for December will be one combined service at 10:30. Sunday School will start at 9:15.

  • Worship is a central part of the Christian Life at South End Baptist Church. Our worship services are scheduled on Sunday mornings at 8:30 & 11:00. The 8:30 a.m. service features an upbeat, contemporary worship style and the 11:00 a.m. service uses the hymns in a traditional-based worship style.
  • Special services to observe Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, as well as evangelistic emphases and other special times are planned during the year.
  • Children's Church is held for children in 1st through 6th grade as an extension of the Morning Worship Service.  Children meet in the Fellowship Hall during the 11:00 Service.  The first half hour is worship time geared toward the kids with their own sermon. Extended Session, which is more than just a nursery, is available for the younger children . We attempt to teach and disciple even the youngest of our children.

  • Music is an important element of worship at South End. The Praise Team leads in worship during the 8:30 a.m. service and the Adult Choir leads in worship during the 11:00 a.m. service. The entire worship team prepares two or three special music services during the year. The rehearsals for the Adult Choir are on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. for one hour. Membership is open to any adult willing to make a commitment of time, energy, and prayer to the choir. The Praise Team practices on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Additional musicians are an on-going need.
  • Small choral groups and soloists frequently enrich worship.
  • The church organist and pianist make essential contributions to the worship service each week.  These musicians invest much time in preparation for worship.
